THE FAMOUS SHIMBUNGU…

Shimbungu was rescued in Namibia and brought to the All Hearts Foundation. He was hit by a taxi and left for dead. He did not receive the relevant treatment from his previous owner. Due to this, he is semi-paralyzed, and we hope he will walk again one day. This little boy has been through great hardships, not only was he left paralyzed, but he endured extreme abuse with his ears cut off.

He has such a new lease on life and motivates so many every day. Remember – You are what you put your mind to and Shimbungu is a warrior! This is an example for so many to see that our lives truly aren’t as bad as we think they are.

The video clip is from my extremely hard days. This is the video of the day I went viral and finally got my life saved.
The video below is me to this very day. Improving daily, and my family is so overjoyed to be able to see how far I have come and how much further I could be going.
Healing is a slow process, but healing is evident! So blessed and proud of myself and will always be eternally thankful to my rescuers and my fellow Namibians – without you, I would never have found my place in life or my family here at All Hearts Foundation SA.
So lucky to have the life I have to this day, please never forget that my road to recovery hasn’t been cheap and your support is always needed.

BROKEN SPINE

After Shimbungu had been rescued and arrived in SA, we immediately rushed him to the vet for a full checkup.

With the X-Rays, it was clear that his spine was broken between L5 and L6.

SHIMBUNGU’S WHEELCHAIR

This is one of the first methods we used to help Shimbungu be more mobile. However, we soon got rid of the wheelchair as it was promoting incorrect growth of the hind legs. This was only a temporary solution and since we have done away with the wheelchair, Shimbungu’s posture has improved dramatically.

Shimbungu arrived at the foundation when he was only 8 months old. His body was still developing, so we had to make sure he was forced into the correct posture and got the correct treatment.

THERMAL FLIPPER

The Thermal Flipper promotes the correct support or the hock. It helped get Shimbungus’s leg in the correct position to be able to walk one day.

FULL BODY HARNESS

The Full Body Harness assisted with the Thermal Flippers.

It goes around his whole body to give him extra support. It eases extra pressure for him, and when the hocks are put on, it forces him to use both his hind legs.

The Full Body harness supported Shimbungu for him to walk correctly and forces his back legs to do some work instead of just dragging behind him.

HYDROTHERAPY

Hydrotherapy will be part of our future treatment for Shimbungu. We keep on accessing him and check up on the best therapy to use at each stage to ensure he has the absolute best chance to walk again.

We have done a few sessions with Shimbungu a while back and he really loved the water, but our biggest obstacle now is getting our pool fixed to continue this therapy. We urge the public to please donate so that we have enough funds for this.
